RIZAL:  LOVER

In the eagerness of a grateful people to pay homage to their greatest hero, Jose Rizal, and to raise him to the pedestal of immortality, and even deification, the more human aspects of his life have been practically relegated to comparative obscurity.  Realizing this, Premiere Productions is currently making a movie, "Ang Buhay at Pag-ibig ni Dr Jose Rizal," (Life and Loves of Dr. Jose Rizal), in order to bring to the screen the romantic aspects of the life of our hero.  History and tradition tell us that in the short span of life of Rizal, he had had twenty-seven love affairs, a few of them torrid, the majority of them minor heart-throbs and perhaps only casual flirtations.  Thus, we have Nelly Bousted, of England; his life frustration, Leonor Rivera; the Spanish Consuelo Ortigas; Gertrude Beckett of Belgium; his last love, the Irish Josephine Bracken, with whom he reportedly got married "in articulo mortis"; the coy Japanese girl, Osei San; and the fiery French girl, Susanne Jacoby.  the roles of the above "loves" of Rizal in the coming movie will be portrayed respectively by:  Anita Linda, Edna Luna, Cora Rivas, Letty Ojera, Aida Serna, Leonor Hernandez and Rita Montes.  His unceasing search for affection may be explained by the fact that most of his life was spent in nostalgic exile.  His greatest love, though, was love of country for whose freedom he constantly worked and gave life in the end.
